Education and Training
Every molluscan shellfish processing operation must have a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Plan (HAACP) and a standard sanitation operating plan (SSOP). HAACP training is required. For more information on HACCP and HAACP training classes contact:

The University of Alaska Southeast-Ketchikan campus has a Fisheries Ttechnology program and is in the process of developing a program withn that aimed specifically at shellfish farming. UAS also has an internship program where students can earn college credits by working - and studying - on an active shellfish farm.
