Current Farm Permits in Alaska

Official Permitted Site Maps and Information. The easiest way to get a lot of official information on different farm sites is through the two links below. One word of caution, however, is that, being state sites, the information is based on permit activity and is, therefore, dated. Many of these permits are old, or inactive, but the state has not been able to clear them off the books yet. That said, you can get some good information from them.

  • Maps and ADL Numbers. This link takes you to a Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) site that, while not meant as an aid to the aquatic farmers, is very wothrwhile. From the site you can bring up maps each of the farm areas, as well as the ADL numbers that are on that site. (The site also has lots of other information about environmentally sensitive areas, etc.) This site is further separated into sections on Cook Inlet farms, Prince William Sound farms, and Southeast Alaska farms.
  • Permitted Farm Information. With or without the ADL, you can go to Alaska Department of Fish and Game's (ADF&G) mariculture web site, where you can find a lot of information about current farms. If you have the ADL, you can search the ADF&G site for all types of information, including the farmer's information, lease dates, size of farm, etc. If you don't have the ADL, you can still find most of the information, nut it will take a bit more looking around.
